Interesting article. A curiosity: what happens to the goods known as roll-on/roll-off? Do they apply the same treatment tariff codes to the containers and therefore not used FOB? Francisco November 16, 2010 at 4:26 p.m.
I do not quite understand tariff codes why that should not be used with full container FOB. Enntiendo that should not be used in the case of consolidations, but in a full container is closed and sealed at the factory, takes up the port and there is loaded on the ship, I do not know that difference has to charge tariff codes a coil. Could you explain? Palmés Remigi November 16, 2010 at 9:42 p.m.
Hi Francisco A container is a UTI (multimodal transport unit), is intended to combine different modes of transport, train, truck, boat, etc.. Precisely for this reason, that combines different modes of transport without breaking the load, it is because you must use a multipurpose incoterm a incoterm that can be used by all modes of transport. In the new Incoterms 2010 this aspect is still more clear. Best regards Francisco Remigi Palmés November 17, 2010 at 24:31
I understand your explanation that a container is a UTI, and I understand that it would be more convenient to use other Incoterms more versatile to take advantage of the "potential" which gives the container. However, do not understand what are the reasons for that should not be used with containers FOB and CIF if a client asks you what. In that case, is there any serious problem by using FOB and / or CIF?
Perhaps I have not explained well at all, I mean using FOB and CIF with full containers when they are to be loaded on ships. For example, FOB Bilbao, where it is clear that the seller is responsible for transport to Bilbao, costs and customs at the port until the container passes the ship's rail. Normally empty container shipping company sends the buyer to the factory, it is loaded and sets the seal, and sent to port waiting to be loaded.
I am from Peru, and in the last year have been "created" expenses shipping terminals. Our sales are FOB INCOTERMS There are some shipping companies that charge and others do not. Also in the shipping companies that if they tend to cash, amount depends also charter contract they have with the end customer, QUERY: 1 Not to assume these additional costs and selling on FOB INCOTERMS, that provision will be might take to make the contract sale. The shipment is always tariff codes in FCL. It should tariff codes be noted that customers always buy on TERMS FOB, and it is very difficult to change these modalities, we've tried to FCA but without success. Yanina July 31, 2011 at 5:42 a.m.
Truthfully, I do not understand why it costs so much change habits, update forms and explain to the import
